How to subscribe and order from NIKU Farms

Have you been considering ordering a curated box or customizing your own package from NIKU Farms? Are you wondering what the ordering process looks like? We’ve created this guide to tell you the whole story, from our partner farms to your table!

It Starts on Pasture:

It all starts at our partner farms. We focus on supporting local small-scale farmers in Ontario who are raising their animals the natural way on pasture, with no antibiotics, no added hormones, and non GMO feed. Some of our partners include Blackview Farm in Listowel Ontario, who bring the best in grass-fed and grass-finished beef, and Howick Community Farms, located around Howick Ontario, which is a partnership of around 30 neighbouring Mennonite farmers.

Raising animals on pasture means that they will be happier, healthier, and that the meat will taste better. Pasture-raised animals lead a stress-free life out in the sun with acres of lush greens to graze on, where they are free to roam along-side other animals. At Blackview Farm, for instance, calves are born in May and are grazed alongside their moms for another 34-38 months!  Our mission is to supply only the best Pasture raised meats to your home from the farm. Ethically Sourced Meat:

We believe that everyone has the right to know where their food comes from. NIKU Farms provides 100% transparency in to where and how your meat is raised. 

We only partner with farmers who share our high ethical and health standards for meat. All of our partner farmers are contractually obligated to meet and maintain these standards. We also regularly visit our partners to ensure these standards are maintained and to continue to build a deep and meaningful relationship with them. 

How to Order from NIKU Farms

One-time commitment:

When you order a box, there are two options to choose from. If you want to try out a box with no commitment, you can choose from one of our set packages. Shipping is $14 for one-time orders.

Subscriptions:

If you’re ready to commit to better health and higher quality meat, you can join our subscription program and become a member! As an added bonus, members get free shipping!

You’ll start by choosing the size of your package: a small box has approximately 30 servings and a large box has 40 servings. Next, we’ll ask you to choose how often you’d like your deliveries to be: choose between every 2, 4, or 6 weeks.

Once you’ve signed up for your subscription, the process is simple:

On Wednesdays, you’ll patiently await an email from us to customize your next order. How exciting! The order cut off is on the Sunday night before your delivery date, so make sure you get your choices in on time!

You can choose between one of our curated packages, or, by popular demand, you can customize your box and choose additional items as add-ons! And if you’re worried about the commitment, rest easy knowing that you can pause, skip, or cancel your subscription at any time, with no penalties.

Packing your order:

Your order will be packed by the same farms that the meat you’ve ordered from. The farmers are always so excited when they get all of the orders from us on Mondays! They pack the boxes on Tuesday, so that they can be delivered right to your door on Thursday.

The meat is all individually vacuum sealed and flash frozen at their peak of freshness. The boxes are insulated with a fully curbside recyclable liner, and instead of dry ice, we use biodegradable gel packs to keep your meat cold while in transit. We are focused on making sure that we are using the most environmentally friendly packaging, so all of our packaging is 100% curbside recyclable. You’ll also receive information about the farm that your meat has come from.

Delivery:

Thursday is the most exciting day of the week! Your order will arrive at your door, ready to be put to good use in some tasty dishes (check out our blog for recipe ideas!). The delivery will arrive in lined boxes with frozen gel packs to keep your meat cold, so there is no need to be home when it arrives (although you’ll need to get it into the freezer before 8pm).
