How spicy is too spicy?
If your family can’t get enough of hot food that makes you sweat, we’ve got you covered. Our farms’ pasture-raised chicken, grass-fed beef, and wild caught fish are incredibly delicious no matter how you season them, but when you add the right spices, your mouth is sure to water.
Keep on scrolling to get some ideas on how to spice up your dinner recipes this summer!
Beef Vindaloo
When you hear spicy, it’s hard not to immediately think of a good curry or vindaloo. To make a super tasty beef vindaloo, marinate your beef in the spicy vindaloo paste overnight (our farms’ stewing beef cubes work great for this).
At dinner time, add garlic, onion, and chili powder to your frying pan, then mix in your tomatoes and tomato paste. Add your marinated beef, some vinegar, and a sprinkle of sugar to finish off the dish and you’re good to go!
Hot Chicken Sandwich
What’s better than a crispy hot chicken sandwich? Cut your chicken breast into patty-sized cuts, then dip in your flour, egg wash and breadcrumbs before frying.
Use your favourite hot sauce, barbecue sauce, or buffalo sauce to drizzle on top or (soak your chicken), then put on a fresh bun with some mayo, pickles, coleslaw or another fresh, crunchy element and enjoy!
Cajun Fish
Grab a rainbow trout or whitefish fillet in your next NIKU Farms order for a super delicious and simple spicy recipe!
Coat your fish in Cajun spice blend (as much or as little as you like) with some salt and pepper to season. Bake the fish in the oven for about 15 minutes at 415F, and then serve with a lime wedge for a splash of citrus.
Jerk Chicken
Make your jerk marinade by mixing green onion, habanero peppers, thyme, salt and pepper, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, garlic, and brown sugar in a food processor. Then put your chicken (legs or thighs on the bone work best) in a plastic bag, coat in the marinade, and let it sit in the fridge overnight.
When it’s time to cook, place your chicken on a baking sheet and bake them in the oven for 50 minutes at 375F. You can also cook your chicken on the grill on medium-high heat for 30 minutes – turning regularly to avoid burning. As long as your chicken hits an internal temp of 165F!
