It’s Popcorn Lovers Day! We can bet that you hear the word ‘popcorn’ and instantly want to curl up with a big bowl of buttery popcorn and a good movie. But a perfect movie night involves more than just popcorn.
Take a look below at some of our favourite comforting finger foods that are best enjoyed along with a bowl of popcorn while watching a great film with your family.
Pulled Pork Poutine
Crispy fries? Check. Gooey cheese? Check. Creamy gravy? Check.
The only way to make a classic even better is to add some grass fed pulled pork! Slow cook some pork roast in the oven or on the grill, and stir it into a sweet and salty barbecue sauce. Add a scoop of your pulled pork mixture to fries and cheese curds for a tasty movie night snack.
Grass-Fed Ground Beef Nachos
Another movie-time favourite is a bowl of nachos with salsa and cheese dip. But let’s kick that up a notch.
Make your loaded nachos by cooking up some grass fed ground beef seasoned with salt and pepper, as well as Cajun or cayenne pepper for some spice. Lay out some large nachos onto a plate, then top them with your ground beef, shredded marble cheese, salsa, and sliced jalapenos, then pop them in the oven (or even the microwave) long enough to melt the cheese.
Include a small cup of sour cream or guacamole as a dipping sauce, and enjoy!
Bacon-Wrapped Tater Tots
What makes a perfect movie night food is a salty snack that you can eat in one bite. And what else makes the perfect bite other than bacon?
Use our farmers’ bacon slices and wrap them around individual tater tots (can be homemade or freezer tots). Stick them in the oven and bake at 400F for 20-25 minutes, and serve with a cheesy dipping sauce. You’ll be addicted to these easy snackables!
Mini Pizzas
Pizza is already a fan favourite for a reason. You can’t go wrong with a cheesy slice! But it can get messy if you’re sharing a whole pizza in the dim light during a movie.
Instead, why not make homemade mini pizzas? Make your dough the size of your palm, then each person can personalize their own pizzas! Tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese, grass fed sausage, pasture raised chicken, peppers, mushrooms… the list of toppings is literally endless.
Take a look at our post about getting creative with pizza to get some ideas for topping yours.
Now that we’ve got you daydreaming about movie night finger foods, keep these dishes in mind when selecting pasture raised meat products for your next NIKU Farms meat delivery.
