Stewing Beef Recipes (That Aren’t Beef Stew) | NIKU Farms

Just because it’s called stewing beef doesn’t mean you can only use it to make stew! Our farms’ pasture-raised stew beef comes chopped and ready to add to your slow cooker, but there are so many creative ways to use this cut of grass fed beef.

Whether it’s a weeknight dinner recipe, or a special occasion dinner for the family, here are some recipes you can cook up with our farms’ stewing beef that aren’t just a stew.

Beef Pot Pie

If you’re a fan of a good pie, add our stew beef to a delicious pie pastry for incredibly comforting flavour!

Cook your beef along with mushrooms, onions, peas, carrots, or similar vegetables until browned. Then put your beef and veggie mixture into your pie crust and bake in the oven at 350F for half an hour. 

Beef Curry

With this ready-to-go beef, it’s incredibly easy to make a delicious beef curry! Season the beef with salt and pepper, and cook on high for about five minutes per side.

In a separate pan, cook your onion, garlic, ginger, cinnamon, cayenne pepper and curry powder and then add the beef and some coconut milk to your spice mixture and cook on low for about an hour. 

Beef Chili

There’s nothing more comforting than a bowl of hot chili. Cook your stewing beef in a pot for about ten minutes with chopped onion. Add chili powder, tomato paste, garlic powder, cumin, sugar, and salt and pepper.

Mix well and then add beans, diced tomatoes, beef bone broth, and tomato sauce. Cook on low for 30 minutes and serve with shredded cheese!

Beef Stroganoff

Another classic and delicious beef dish is a hearty stroganoff! Cook your stewing beef on medium until brown, then start your sauce with beef bone broth, onion, mushrooms, garlic, and flour to thicken it up.

Then it’s time to cook your noodles (flat ones work best). Once all of the pieces of this meal are ready, put your noodles on a plate, then top with beef and mushroom gravy, and you’re done!

Grilled Beef Skewers

Last but not least, we love a good grilled skewer! Fill up your skewers with large cuts of red onion, various bell peppers, mushrooms, or zucchini – whatever vegetables your family prefers – and for every couple of veggies, add a piece of stewing beef.

Season the entire skewer with salt and pepper, as well as any other spices you like. Make it as spicy or mild as you like! Then grill until the meat is cooked through. Super simple, and super delicious.
