If you’re something of a sweet tooth, meat might not be the first thing that comes to mind, but meat doesn’t have to be just a savory flavour.

Next time you’re choosing pasture-raised meat products to add to your NIKU Farms box, try considering which products might go well with a sprinkle of sugar – the options might surprise you!

Honey Glazed Ham

When you think about sweet meat, one of the first dishes that probably comes to mind is a honey glazed ham. Brown sugar, honey, and your choice of warming spices spread over a pasture-raised ham is always a crowd-pleaser.

Maple Rainbow Trout

Sweet fish? Heck yes! A little bit of maple syrup with lemon on top of rainbow trout or salmon will give the mildly-flavoured fillet a taste of sweet and savoury that might surprise you.

Honey Garlic Chicken

Honey garlic is a classic for a reason! Try making your own honey garlic sauce by combining brown sugar, honey, soy sauce, and garlic, then toss your favourite chicken wings, thighs, or breasts for a delicious sweet and salty combo.

Candied Bacon

Everything is a little bit better with bacon, isn’t it? Mix up some brown sugar, maple syrup, and cracked black pepper and coat your bacon strips, then pop them in the oven until you’ve got crispy sweet treats!
