With Hanukkah just around the corner, we can bet your family is thinking about what to cook for the holiday. It’s time to place your NIKU Farms order to ensure your box has all the pasture-raised cuts you’ll need to make a delicious meal, regardless of which farm you choose to buy from!
Take a look below to get some ideas for perfect Hanukkah recipes, whether you prefer to go the traditional route or get a little creative with your Hanukkah meal.
Beef Brisket
We bet you can’t even say the word Hanukkah without thinking about a good brisket! But it’s all about how you cook your beef. Regardless of how you cook it, whether you choose to grill, smoke, slow-cook, or roast on the stovetop, you’ll want to cook it for about 30-60 minutes per pound. That means a brisket can take anywhere from 5-10 hours to cook well!
Add some red wine to your cook, or your favourite flavourful cooking liquid, and when the brisket is done, you’ll have an extremely moist cut your family will love.
Rainbow Trout
If your family prefers fish, add some rainbow trout to your next NIKU box. It really doesn’t take much to make this fish tasty and tender!
Just cook at 400F for about 15 minutes, and the fatty skin will make the trout super succulent. Then you can add whichever seasoning you want – lemon juice, salt and pepper, garlic, cayenne; the fish itself only needs a little bit of seasoning to give it a kick without taking over the trout’s flavour.
Lamb Leg
Looking to switch up the brisket but don’t want to sacrifice the super moist meat? Try ordering some cuts of lamb (lamb legs, ribs, or chops) and slow-cooking it in your favourite cooking liquid or with your favourite dry rub recipes.
It’s the perfect way to change up your holiday dish without straying too far from what makes it classic and delicious!
Don’t forget the side dishes!
It wouldn’t be Hanukkah without cooking up some potato latkes. Your meal’s centrepiece needs some accompanying flavours. Why not serve up some of the classic fried potato pancakes, matzo ball soup, Challah bread, or sweet roasted carrots and garlic mushrooms?
Now that you’re inspired to make some Hanukkah dishes, check out the products our farms are offering this winter, and order your cuts so they arrive on time for the holiday!
