Orange Juice Steak Marinade Recipe | NIKU Farms

April 16, 2021

In today’s post, we’ve got a Cuban-inspired seasoning that is sure to be a treat for your meat. This great marinade is a little different. Have you ever made a marinade with orange juice in it?

Don’t be mistaken – this isn’t the same as your orange chicken sauce from Chinese takeout menus. Actual orange juice is used in the mixture because of its low calories and highly acidic properties. Because of the high acidity, the juice does a really great job at tenderising the steak.

The key is not to use too much juice though, or else it will actually make the meat more tough.

Tender slices of steak on a wooden cutting board.
This tender steak cooked by our partner Bill from Blackview Farm looks absolutely perfect!

Next time you’ve got cuts of steak that needs a little tenderizing, pull up this recipe by allrecipes and give it a try!

4 servings

Ingredients:

Preparation:

  1. Heat cumin seeds in a small skillet on medium heat until they turn brown and smell toasted. Immediately remove from heat and mix the seeds with orange juice, oil, steak seasoning, lime juice, and oregano.
  2. Place your steaks in a resealable bag and pour the orange juice marinade over the meat. Squeeze out the air. Marinate in the drive for at least 30 minutes. Let it marinate hours or overnight for a tender cut.
  3. Grill over medium-high heat on an oiled pan or grate.
  4. Enjoy!
