Picture this: A perfectly light, crispy, and flaky fish patty sandwiched between two toasted and buttered buns. Are you drooling yet? Our NIKU community has made it clear that they love our sustainable fish options, and our fish partner John O’s Foods just so happens to have a recipe for the perfect Fish Fry!
Servings: 2
Ingredients:
Ingredients for Lemon Garlic Mayo
Preparation
Step 1: Thaw your fish patties
Thaw the patties, either overnight in the refrigerator, or in a strainer under cold, running water.
Step 2: Mix the lemon garlic mayo
Combine all mayo ingredients together in a bowl and set aside for later.
Step 3: Prepare the breading mixtures in 3 separate shallow bowls
Step 4: Bread the fish
Dip each patty into the flour mixture, then the egg mixture, and finally the crumbs, coating each side of the patty completely during each of these three steps.
Step 5: Heat a fry pan to medium high.
Melt the 1/2 cup butter in your pan.
Step 6: Time to pan-fry!
Place a coated patty in the hot pan and cook until golden brown (approx. 3 minutes per side). Flip patty to cook the second side.
Step 7: Remove fillet and drain on a paper towel before serving
Fry remaining patty, adding butter to the pan between fillets if necessary. Toast your buns on the same pan before the next step.
Step 8: Lemon-butter mixture
When all is cooked, add 4 tbsp. of butter to the hot fry pan and squeeze in the juice of 1 lemon. Stir the butter and juice to loosen the brown bits on the bottom of the pan.
Step 9: Assemble, Serve & Enjoy!
Add the browned patties with assorted toppings on toasted brioche buns and pour the hot sauce on top.
P.S. If you’d like to add an onion ring on your burger, simply get a big raw onion ring and follow the same frying instructions as the fish patties.
