After moving to Canada, Shaheer and Bahaar found themselves in a market where Halal, organic, and ethically raised chicken was nearly impossible to find. So they decided to step in and be the solution! Chicken Thika Farm offers ethically raised poultry that is CSI certified organic, HMA certified Halal, and is licensed by CFO (Chicken Farmers of Ontario) for small-batch artisanal farming.
They would like to support families in local communities who adhere to religious dietary tenets while also investing in sustainable and ethical practices. Culture and food come hand in hand for Shaheer and Bahaaer, and they hope that Chicken Thika Farm is able to offer new options for the Ontario community.
Along with their three sons, they work night and day on their farm to keep their poultry happy and healthy all-year-round. Although our farmers typically work from home even in a normal year, their daily lives have also changed. Their children are also attending school online! Recently, Shaheer and Bahaar’s youngest son had a school project to cook dinner for the whole family and made some delicious butter chicken mac and cheese!
